The Story of
Thom Moss Knives

I grew up in Rhode Island, on Aquidneck Island. While both my parents were teachers, they were also artist, crafters, and an engineer. Our home had a kiln and pottery wheel in the kitchen, a bedroom converted into an art studio where my mom painted, developed photos, or made jewelry, and a basement full of old hand and power tools. My parents owned a leather pocketbook company and sold them around New England in the summers out of a VW bus. I have always had a desire to make and build things from playing with legos as a child to, sculpure, pottery, carving, hand built guitars and tube amplifiers. I made a decsion to put off Art School for four years after high school while I saved some money earn the GI Bill in the Coast Guard, a decision that ended up lasting the last 23 years.
I was drawn to blacksmithing and making knives, specifically kitchen knives, since it combined a few passions I have acquired over the years, woodworking, metalwork, leather craft, and cooking. I do hope to expand into more kitchen items once I retire from the Coast Guard in 2022 but for now I spend every free moment either learning or making knives. I truly appreciate the support.
